Ryan has a chronic blood clotting disorder that meant years of routine lab draws, at-home INR checks, and carefully tracking vitamin K in every meal. It wasn't until he moved and saw a new doctor, years later, that he learned switching blood thinners would have made most of that unnecessary — nobody had ever compared his case against how similar patients were actually treated. That gap is why Hugo Health exists.
He was the founding machine learning engineer at Deep Lens and Paradigm, scaling AI-driven clinical trial-matching across hundreds of health systems — Deep Lens was later acquired by Paradigm. He's also built and patented AI systems at DataRobot and IBM, and holds an M.S. in Computer Science from Georgia Tech.
Why we exist
The average person managing several chronic conditions sees multiple specialists a year, each working from their own notes, on their own schedule. Records don't always follow the patient. Medication lists fall out of sync. Questions sit in portal queues for weeks.
None of that is any single doctor's fault — it's what happens when a system built for acute, one-time problems is asked to manage something ongoing and interconnected. We built Hugo Health to be the layer that holds the whole picture, so you don't have to be the one carrying it between offices.
That's true whether it's your own care or a loved one's. Many of our members are managing a parent's, spouse's, or child's conditions alongside their own — so Hugo Health is built to hold either picture, or both, with the loved one's consent.
